The French Revolution

The American Revolution was definitely one of the most defining moments in our world’s history. Without that revolution, this world would not even be close to what it is now, because freedom would not be present here, and neither would much truth. During this American Revolution, however, another revolution was starting on a whole different continent. This revolution, because it took place in France, was called the French Revolution, and anybody who knows anything about it knows that it was a very dark and bloody place and time in history. The reason for the American Revolution was an oppressive England, but what was the reason for the French Revolution? What was the difference between these two countries, and why didn’t they turn out more similarly?
Many different factors were present in these two revolutions. The American Revolution was undoubtedly a miraculous success. Thirteen small colonies fought for their independence from the most powerful nation on Earth; maybe even the most powerful nation in Earth’s history. How in the world did the Americans win this war and get their independence? It just seems unreal. The chances were one in a million that Americans would get their independence from Britain, and somehow they did. How in the world could such a miraculous thing happen? There is only one explanation, and it can be explained in one word: God.
God is the biggest and most significant difference between France and America. America is a chosen nation, and it was meant to be on this Earth. It was meant to bring freedom and prosperity to a great many in this world, and it always has had and today still has a great purpose in this world. France is not the same way. Some things just aren’t fair, and there is a certain truth to that statement, but I believe that the reason for the difference between these two countries has a lot more to it than fairness. Yes, some things are chosen by God to be more significant than others, but there is a reason that America was chosen over France.
Why didn't the French Revolution end up like
America's Revolution did?
The reason for that choice, I believe, had a lot to do with morality. Look at the French Revolution. It was bloody and wrong inside and out. Thousands were innocently beheaded and murdered for irrelevant reasons. France was trying to repeat what America did, because they saw that America was prosperous and better off because of the revolution that they’d had. However, France didn’t pattern their revolution in the same way. America had a lot of immorality at the time of their revolution, but they were humbled, and they were able to clean up their act and remember their covenants with their God. Because America did this, they were chosen over France. However, if you compare the two scales of immorality with each other, France’s would be much larger. America was immoral before they were cleansed, but they weren’t running through the streets murdering and beheading innocent people. Before and after their cleansing, America’s moral health was a lot higher than that of France, and that is part of the reason why God chose this nation over France.
The other part of the reason was this: life isn’t fair, like I’ve talked about before. America was chosen to be chosen before it existed, and that’s just how it is. This is a chosen continent, as it always has been, but the people in this divine nation will only be allowed to stay here if they are able to keep their moral health up.
America was different from France for these two reasons: morality and chance. France made an attempt to follow the American pattern, but it failed because of its immorality. What can we learn from this in our own lives? We must be moral. We must choose God. We must follow God’s commandments. If we can’t do these things, we will surely fail, just as the French Revolution did. Also, we can’t just go around getting rid of people to solve our problems. People change, and we can help them to change for the better. We may not always agree with everything that someone else says, but killing them will not solve the problem. If we choose God, God will choose us. Because America chose God, God chose them, and that is the difference between the American and French Revolutions.
